And now to something completely different. The very first -and its gonna stay the lonesome only one- Wochenschau in English language. For the simple reason that these short notice is a big THANK YOU and should be readable for the very international circle of friends who participated last weekend at the 44th SCHNAPSZAHL Invitational Event at good `ol Tills Beach.
For sure some next level surfing went down over the waiting period of the whole weekend between morning high tide at Arches and afternoon low tide expression sessions at the Point. Even when conditions where more poor to fair than good to epic, the performance level for sure was. But the level got significantly higher Saturday evening when the whole thing was perfectly rounded up with two handful of Sundowners at the beach. The following final with an all-time Braai with Lamb chops from Burkina Faso, T-Bones from South Africa and Whisky from Scotland resulted in some perfect heats. Surrounded by an worldwide surfing crew from Ghana, Paraguay, UK, France, Kongo, USA, Australia, Holland, Thailand and a small handful of Germans the event was more than what me could`ve been asked for to celebrate this unholy Number.
Talking unholy things, last but not least, also a big thank you to the great carpenters who built these bamboo huts at Tills. Without them the coconut -check the size of the bloody thing- from 10ft above would have definitely split either Charles or myself skull in half. Someone must really love us.
